oh. Wow. I love this book, hands down, and not just because John Green is a hero which is why I thought I might like it. This book is definitely at the top of my YA fiction list and should be on everyone else’s too! Besides the perfect ending, I liked the entire book. The beginning and end are exciting and full of metaphors and themes and ideas, etc. But the middle was entertaining in that it gave me time to think about what was going on instead of just rushing into the next idea. There are so many genius quotations that I could pull from this book, but the ones I like the most are from the scene where Margo and Quentin share epiphanies together. That is the coolest part, when they talk about the different metaphors for understanding. My favourite metaphor was the idea that people can only begin to understand each other when they can see through each others’ cracks. That was jokes.
Again, the ending was perfect, I wasn’t sure if I should expect a sad ending like Alaska or a happy ending like Katherines, but I kind of got both. Quentin and Margo are both sad that their paths lead them different ways but still happy because they crossed each other. I will definitely buy this book in the near future (if the library wasn’t so convenient, I’d have it already) because I want to have a copy of my own to keep forever. That’s how much I enjoyed it, and I recommend it to all!
Anyways, the next book is The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger . My friend just did a project on it and she loved it and now I’m borrowing it from her. It sounds like a good read!
p.s. I’m thinking of starting a youtube channel/vlog, not just for this project but to record all of my projects that I hope to accomplish in 2009. Comments and suggestions are welcome!
